Sophie brings over 11 years of teaching and tutoring experience, driven by a deep passion for visual storytelling and children’s education. She enjoys exploring the intersection of traditional drawing and painting with a variety of mixed media, including clay, collage, origami, pop-up art, and crafts. Through her playful and imaginative approach, she hopes to inspire children to explore, express themselves, and find joy in every creative activity—nurturing their imagination in powerful and positive ways.

Inside-Out Me: Creating from Quarantine
Summer is usually a time for sunshine, fun, and outdoor adventures—unless the world is weighed down by an epidemic. But no matter the circumstances, we are always embraced by the boundless universe of imagination. This project invites kids to discover that creativity is a bold adventure that can take them anywhere. And the best part? You can make art everywhere.

From Shapes to Landscapes
Don’t you miss the parks and rolling hills of San Francisco? Even if we can’t explore them right now, you have the freedom to imagine and build your own city—right from where you are. In this project, you'll create a vibrant cityscape using basic shapes and the colors of your choice. Let your imagination lead the way!

What’s on Your Family Wall
In this project, students will explore the concepts of positive and negative space, along with color theory, as they create vibrant and imaginative family portraits. By layering colors and using simple shapes, they will design a unique and expressive representation of their family. This activity encourages creativity, attention to composition, and an understanding of how color can enhance artwork.
Suggested Materials - 1 piece of paper, and any preferred coloring materials. We won’t need pencils and erasers this time. Let’s go ahead with colors!

In this project, students will learn about atmospheric perspective and how it helps create depth in artwork. Using simple shapes and patterns, they’ll build a playful, layered landscape that brings their imagination to life—one cut-out at a time!

It’s My Recipe
From cookies to kitchen tools, everything comes in all shapes and sizes—and now it’s your turn to design them! This step-by-step drawing activity helps younger artists break down objects into simple shapes, making it easy and fun to draw ingredients and utensils. More experienced students can take it further by adding creative details and imaginative flair to their illustrations.

Under the Sea
Dive into the vibrant world beneath the waves! In this project, students will explore the wonders of the ocean by creating an underwater scene through a mix of collage and painting techniques. They’ll bring sea creatures, coral, and aquatic plants to life, experimenting with colors, textures, and shapes. This activity encourages creativity, imagination, and an appreciation for marine life, all while having fun with different artistic materials.

Robot Factory
Who doesn’t love BB-8 and Wall-E? Now, it’s time to create your very own unique robot—or even your own robot story! This project begins by designing your robot characters and crafting a short story. Kids will then bring their creations to life with a full illustration, complete with a detailed background and all the imaginative touches they can dream up.
